Founder & Director
Ryan Tirrell
Director & Principal Technical Consultant | MBCS
Enterprise Programme Manager. Technical Consultant. Software Developer. Building and leading a professional services business that delivers where others can't.
The Story
Builder, Leader, Problem Solver
Ryan founded RTBSS in 2021 with a simple thesis: the consultancy market was overcharging and under-delivering. After years as a Senior Systems Analyst & Developer — where he consistently outperformed and outpaced the external consultants hired to support him — he decided to build a business that did things differently.
That meant assembling a team of genuine specialists, pricing fairly, and never losing touch with the hands-on technical work. Having managed teams of over 30 people, worked alongside trade unions and exec/non-exec boards, and trained organisations on project delivery and governance — Ryan brings senior leadership credibility to every engagement. But he still writes code, builds interfaces, and gets into the data alongside his team — because the best leaders don't just direct, they deliver.
He's been developing web applications since he was 16. What started as a hobby became an obsession, then a career, and finally a business. Today he leads a team of 7 across programme management, data engineering, software development, and front-end consultancy — serving clients in social housing, the public sector, and beyond.
Ryan's dual strength is rare in the industry: he can sit in a boardroom and shape programme strategy, then walk into a technical workshop and design the ETL pipeline to deliver it. That ability to bridge the strategic and the technical is baked into RTBSS's DNA.
Capabilities
Core Strengths
Where strategic delivery leadership meets hands-on technical execution — helping housing providers ship complex change without drama.
How I Work
Start with outcomes and constraints. Keep people in the loop.
Make the plan visible — EPMO, stage gates, RAID+.
Fix the data and interfaces so the numbers add up and stay that way.
Leave behind clear docs, dashboards, and repeatable tooling.
Delivery Leadership
EPMO setup, programme recovery, stage-gate governance, burn-down & RAG reporting, vendor management, and risk & dependency control. Board-ready reporting for exec and non-exec stakeholders.
Systems Integration
REST APIs, SQL-first interfacing, SSIS/ETL pipelines, event and trigger-based patterns. Built for reliability with error handling, idempotency, reconciliation, and operational runbooks.
Data & Reporting
Warehousing, governed KPIs, advanced T-SQL, and reporting across SSRS, Power BI, and Tableau. Auditability and controlled data flows from source to dashboard.
Business Analysis
As-is / to-be mapping, reusable requirement templates, cross-functional process design, UAT planning, and stakeholder workshops that translate vendor capability to business need.
HMS Expertise
Deep module-level knowledge of Civica Cx, Total Repairs/Mobile, DRS, Hallnet, Mobysoft Rentsense, Open Accounts, NEC Housing, Locata, and MRI Housing One.
Software Development
